http://www.federalreserve.gov/

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation regulates state-chartered banks   that do not belong to the Federal Reserve System. During our initial stage we   are just including links. In future we intend on including other powerful   finance related tools.

Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency regulates banks that have the   word "National" in or the letters "N.A." after their names.

National Credit Union Administration (NCUA)
The National Credit Union Administration regulates federally charted credit  unions.

Office of Thrift Supervision
On July 21, 2011, the Office of Thrift Supervision became part of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council
The Council is a formal interagency body empowered to prescribe uniform   principles, standards, and report forms for the federal examination of financial  institutions by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and to make recommendations to promote uniformity in the supervision of financial institutions.

New Banking Related Regulatory Agencies

Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC)
Established under the Dodd-Frank Act, the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) provides comprehensive monitoring to ensure the stability of the national financial system. The Council is charged with identifying threats to the financial stability of the United States; promoting market discipline; and responding to emerging risks to the stability of the United States financial system. The Council consists of 10 voting members and 5 nonvoting members and brings together the expertise of federal financial regulators, state regulators, and an insurance expert appointed by the President.

Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (CFPB)
The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 (Dodd-Frank Act) established the consumer bureau. Congress established the CFPB to protect consumers by carrying out Federal consumer financial laws. Among other things, they:

  • Conduct rule-making, supervision, and enforcement for Federal consumer financial protection laws

  • Restrict unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices

  • Take consumer complaints

  • Promote financial education

  • Research consumer behavior

  • Monitor financial markets for new risks to consumers

  • Enforce laws that outlaw discrimination and other unfair treatment in consumer finance
